On January 3, Hyomin informed fans about the group's decision via Instagram through a letter in which she shares that members have said goodbye to MBK Entertainment after 10 years in the company. However, she assures fans that they will think of ways to see them again in the future.
Hyomin's letter tells the fans:
"I'm writing to you for the first time in a while since the New Year. They're having a good time, right?
"We said goodbye last year to our company with which we have been for a long 10 years. But do not worry. Although I can not tell you anything concrete yet, our members can be together wherever they want.
"The members are all taking time for themselves and relaxing for the first time in a while. We have carefully decided to consider now how we can prepare many opportunities for us and be able to be together with the fans in the future. Of course, we're going to meet with our fans individually as well.
"I am grateful once again for the things that I have been taught during that time, since I was young I just thought it was a fact that I would receive love, until now when I start again despite the knowledge that I will not be able to receive love
"Also, I'm nervous and excited for a new beginning, but honestly I'm a bit cautious to say goodbye to the company after spending joys and sorrows with them for 10 years, it feels like we're breaking up with a lover you've been with. A long time, when we start a new love immediately it's scary.
"Also, I want to tell our fans that I am truly grateful for your unconditional support during the past 10 years, even if this is not the end. Also, they worked hard!
"Fans, I will have good news for you so please do not worry too much and please wait.
"I hope they achieve everything they want in 2018 and happy new year!"
A source at MBK Entertainment has stated: "It has been decided that Hyomin, Eunjung, Qri and Jiyeon of T-ara will not renew their contracts." It has been explained that their contracts ended in December 2017.
The agency also clarified that the group is not disintegrated. This continues after the expiration of the Boram and Soyeon contracts in the month of May.
