Will BTS receive the Cultural Merit Order and will it be presented in the United States?

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced that BTS is nominated for the Order of Cultural Merit this year, which will be presented at the Korea Culture and Popular Arts Awards 2018!
The Order of Cultural Merit has five grades and is described as "awarded to a person who has rendered excellent meritorious services in the fields of culture and art with the interest of promoting national culture and national development."

The nominations take into account the achievements of BTS in Korea and foreign markets, as well as their contributions to the Korean Wave.

Other artists like BIGBANG, EXO, Girls' Generation, SHINee, 2NE1, TWICE, BTOB, CNBLUE and more have received these mentions, there has not yet been a group of idols that have received an Order of Cultural Merit. The singer PSY received an Order of Cultural Merit of fourth grade in 2012 following the achievements of his song "Gangnam Style", which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.

Recall that BTS was previously recognized by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism during the Korea Culture and Popular Arts Awards 2016. The Order of Cultural Merit is a higher honor than the ceremony mentions of the president, prime minister and minister.

The winners of the Korea Culture and Popular Arts Awards 2018 will be announced in October, with the ceremony planned for October 31.

On the other hand, on August 9, it was revealed that BTS will add a stop in New York at Citi Field and it will be the first time that a Korean artist performs a solo concert at a stadium in the United States.
